Officer Perea is the BPOA's pick for Officer of the Year this year. Officer Perea has always been proactive in policing and maintaining the quality of life on her beats. She has been a leader in practicing both traditional law enforcement methods and community oriented policing methods in order to enhance her capabilities to do so. She seeks to come up with long terms solutions to problems that exist in and around the BART stations, while developing partnerships with community groups that ultimately help her to do so. While law enforcement is not easy work, Officer Perea has always maintained a positive and enthusiastic attitude.  Officer Perea has been in many stressful situations and her composed demeanor always stands out.

Officer Perea is an excellent role model for men and women in the law enforcement industry because she conducts herself in the utmost professional manner to her peers and the community. She always appears confident in making decisions and acting on them. In regards to her common tasks, she can be relied upon to manage the flow of patrons and quality of life issues at the stations.  She provides excellent customer service.  Officer Perea exceeds the standards when it comes to her dedication.  She has cultivated lasting partnerships with stakeholders throughout the areas she serves.  Officer Perea has been particularly dedicated to reaching out to schools to develop alternative approaches to dealing with problems.  Police work does not always allow officers the chance to get heavily involved in community outreach however, Officer Perea seems to make it work.

As the department began re-emphasize training standards for its employees, Officer Perea stepped up to the plate as our new Training Officer and a member of the training committee. She has shown enthusiasm with her new position and has stressed her belief in exceptional training standards. Officer Perea strives to do what is best for her co-workers when it comes to training policy. Her job knowledge is impressive and she is always willing to share her knowledge with her co-workers. Her appearance is always professional and she can always be relied upon to offer tips on good eating and workout habits.  Please join the BPOA in congratulating Officer Perea for a job well done.
