On June 30, 2013 the Memorandum of Understanding (Labor Agreement) between the BART Police Officers' Association and the BART District will expire.
In January, at the District's request, the BPOA agreed to partake in the interest-based bargaining style of negotiations for the upcoming contract. Members of the BPOA Negotiations Team attended a three day training course on interest-based bargaining presented by attorneys from the law firm of Beeson, Tayer and Bodine.
In years past as the deadline of the contract approached, both employees and customers of the BART District have felt anxiety and sometimes animosity towards negotiations. Currently the BPOA is working collaboratively with the District to negotiate a contract that is acceptable to all involved parties. I ask for your patience during this process, as it often takes longer than expected to reach an agreement |
